BookingPay for Business

BookingPay Flow Presentation

Description

  • February, 2020

BookingPay was a new payment method developed to meet Booking.com's needs. The product aimed to remove the existing friction points and ensure complete control over the payment flow, revenue protection, and lower payment/fx costs. This was a massive project that lasted for around a year. Three product teams were involved in building it.

On the consumer end, payments could be processed through Booking.com's Android and iOS apps.

On the merchant's (accommodation) end, we developed a web application from scratch to meet merchants' needs for accepting, reconciling, and charging BookingPay payments.

My Contributions

  • As the team leader, I have been involved in the project from the outset, contributing to the initial ideation and shaping of the vision.
  • My role involved acquiring the right tech talent for the project (engineering and design).
  • Managing underperformance.
  • I was tasked with measuring the entire project competition, spanning three teams, ensuring prompt issue identification, and adhering to the schedule.
  • Collaborated with other leaders to ensure clear goals and good dependency management.
  • Daily management of over 10 people. The team size fluctuated when a new team lead joined; the number of reports assigned to me reduced, allowing me more time to focus on the product.
  • Tracking the daily BookingPay transactions to ensure our success rate stays within desired operational ranges.
